BACKSTAGE GUIDELINES

To make sure keep our dancers safe and our venue clean, please review our backstage guidelines listed below.

DROP-OFF & PICK-UP

DANCER DROP-OFF INFORMATION:
BACKSTAGE VOLUNTEERS may bring THEIR dancer (and their dancer only) with them to Backstage Volunteer Check-in on the left side of the theater through the black gate.
Dancers who are not accompanying a Backstage Volunteer will check-in on the backside (right) of the theater at the Performer Check-in door.

At Dancer Check-in, your dancer will receive a wrist band with their name on it and the person dropping them off will receive a notecard with their dancer's name on it. We ask that you KEEP this notecard safe as we will require it to be handed back to ALDA staff when dancer's are released back to parents after the show.

Please plan to arrive early as it will take ALDA staff a few minutes to check every dancer in.

DANCER PICK-UP INFORMATION:
Dancer pick-up will take place on the left side of the theater at the black gate (the same location as Backstage Volunteer Check-In before the show). Please allow time for ALDA staff to release all dancers, as we will ensure each dancer is released to their designated guardian and that dancer notecards are returned to staff.

WHAT YOUR PERFORMER CAN EXPECT

Dancers will enjoy a fun, safe, and well-supervised backstage experience throughout the event. They’ll have the opportunity to spend time with their friends, connect with fellow performers, and relax between routines in a positive and supportive environment.

Our backstage area is staffed at all times by ALDA team members and verified volunteers, ensuring that dancers are supervised 24/7. We prioritize both safety and organization so that every performer feels comfortable and cared for.

To keep the energy high and the experience enjoyable, we provide engaging entertainment and activities backstage—so there’s no need for dancers to bring additional entertainment.

We’re committed to creating a backstage atmosphere that is not only secure, but also fun, memorable, and stress-free for every dancer

BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS

Backstage at recital is an extension of our studio, and we encourage all dancers to carry the same positive energy and professionalism they show in class into this space. We ask every performer to lead with respect, kindness, excellence, humility, and encouragement toward their peers, our staff, theater staff, and backstage volunteers.

To help create a smooth and supportive environment for everyone, dancers are expected to follow a few important guidelines. This includes using inside voices, refraining from eating or drinking in backstage areas (any food or drinks found backstage will be thrown away), and using respectful and appropriate language at all times. We also ask dancers to be mindful of their surroundings by cleaning up after themselves and treating all equipment, costumes, and facilities with care.

For the safety and privacy of all performers, photos and videos are not permitted in dressing room areas. ALDA staff will kindly enforce this policy and ask anyone not following it to stop.

Please remember that dancers are responsible for their personal belongings. We recommend leaving valuables at home, as we are not responsible for any items, including electronics, that are lost or left unattended.

Thank you for helping us create a positive, respectful, and enjoyable backstage experience for everyone involved. We can’t wait to see all of your hard work shine on stage!

FOOD & DRINK

To maintain a clean, safe, and efficient backstage environment, no food, drinks, or toys are permitted backstage. Please ensure your dancer has eaten breakfast and used the restroom before being checked in.

ALDA Staff will have emergency water and snacks available if a genuine need arises. Otherwise, personal items such as Stanleys, Yetis, water bottles, snacks, and toys are not allowed backstage and will be discarded if brought. To avoid this, we strongly recommend not sending these items with your dancer at all.

Rest assured, your dancer will only be backstage for a short period of time, and our ALDA Staff is fully prepared with appropriate activities and entertainment to keep them comfortable and engaged.
